The Runners Wild trail run was 50km ultra marathon, held in Bario, Sarawak, Malaysia between 2015 to 2017. Because of the remoteness of the location only between 50-60 runners were able to fly in to take part each year. The race would start in at the Bario marketplace and the runners would have to run to the village of Pa Lungan either via the village of Pa Ukat or via the village of Pa Umor and loop back to Bario. From there they would run past the long houses of Pa Derong, Pa Ramapuh, Bario Asal and finish back at the market place. The race would take the runners via rice fields, secondary forests and logging roads.
Adventurous runners from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the United Kingdom, The United States of America and Argentina made their way to the Bario Highalands to run the adventure of their lives!
Runners Wild Bario was made possible by the tireless work of many volunteers who stepped forward to assist us in this cause. This included volunteers who assisted in the race organizations and also more importantly with our Junior Journalism and Cultural exchange programs with the Bario Secondary School.
Bario, in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia. It is a wonderous place of beauty with a rich history from head hunters, interstellar gods and wartime heroics during World War 2. The route would start in the main Bario village and cover the villages and various long houses at Pa Ukat, Pa Lungan, Bario Asal and Pa Derong.
We also would not have been able to make this project a reality without the steadfast support of our sponsors and partners such as Tourism Malaysia, iM Sarawak Foundation, Sarawak Tourism, Rurum Kelabit Bario, Tune Talk and Brooks Running Shoes.

Although we are unable to plan a run here now, we are running some programs here which we had started in 2019. Currently we are working on community initiatives and are creating cultural exchange programs between the Druk White Lotus School in Ladakh and other schools in Asia.
